scopalamine is a well known drug that has been synthesized since at least the 60s, it is one of the "truth serums" and is usually mixed with sodium pentathol for that use. The plant is called buradanga and is related to the datura plant (also called jimpson weed). The most legitimate use of scopalamine is in very small doses for motion sickness. It is also used as a street narcotic called scoop.
