My growout tanks are bananas right now.. :nilly: I have to split these guys up this weekend across a few other tanks. Few pics during feeding time this morning.

Herichthys carpintis "escondido" I sure hope these guys turn out half as nice as JD's.. I believe I have 2 males and 4 females. I just want one pair.

exCichlasoma festae are finally starting to show some adult coloration. I will not be getting a pair from this group, I'll grpw them out to get a few males and females and track down a few from other sources in order to get my pair. Jason I might hit you up on your F1's. Lets talk ;)

exCichlasoma cf. ornatum are growing really slowly. I do not think I will be keeping this species much longer.

BONUS SHOTS! of the Paratheraps zonatus (the sponge behind the male is a hydor V, the biggest the 125g spopnge for size comparisons) and Nandopsis tetracanthus pair. The male is just impossible to get a pic of. Such an aggressive little guy..

I love how escondidos look when grown up. Should come out just as good or better than a JD.

I think he meant JD as in jgentry...not Jack dempsey lol

Send those ornatum my way if u don't want them :) you've seen mine haven't u? They grow into living jewels with serious attitude!

And omg I want that zonatus!

Nice looking growout!!!! Some CA cichlids take years to really develope. My big male carp is a little over 5 years old. Some of those are likely to only be 4" or so in a year so just give them time. It's hard to be patient sometimes though.

If you do decide to give up on the ornatum you can always mail them my way:naughty:.

Haha yeah I meant jgentry thanks for catching that, my bad. His big guy got the bug planted for me.. Yeah I have seen your ornatum, they look great. I would love to hang on to them but don't want to keep my hopes up of them getting on well with the festae long term. I assume I will have to move them to another tank best case scenario.

Thanks JD! and thanks for showing your, every since I saw yours I just had to get a pair. Everyone above is actually in two tanks, 300g and 125g. I need to finalize who goes to which tanks long term and put away my wallet... :nilly:

They are all coming along nicely. You will have a varied collection once they all grow up and pair off. Keep up the good work and don't forget to show pics of the group once they are all relocated in their individual tanks.

Looking great Justin:) and you know I'll be slimming my festaes down eventually;) most likely around July or august. And I'm on the same page as you with the ornatum. I'm gonna let 2 of my smaller ones go I think their both males, the smaller one might be female I'm not sure I'd have to see if I can vent yet. Hopefully I'll be getting a couple larger ones 4-6" im keeping my fingers crossed;) and for back up I'll keep the two larger males I have now roughly 3-3.5".
I've had to pull my ornatums out from the festae tank about 2 weeks ago due to the male ornatums interfering with my festae program;) but all your fish look great and I'm looking forward to updates
