Hey all, I was thinking of setting up a 100g aquarium with a Pair of Grammodes, and some dithers...

Id also really like a pike if possible... A pike was my first "Serious" fish when I was a kid (Bellycrawler) and I LOVED it, and miss having one..

I really like the Cobra / Marmorata

Any chance this would work ?

I would make sure the pike had caves or pvc for cover. Something large enough for the pike but too small for the Grammodes to fit in. I would also make sure the pike were a little larger than the Grammodes. If the pair mate you will have to take all the other fish out of the tank, they get very nasty. So you should probably have at least a 75 gallon tank ready incase you have to remove the other fish.

WHY you want to shoehorn a fish or any other fish into a tank with a breeding pair of aggressive cichlids is beyond me. people normally take OUT fish... not add them.

it's like adding you into a pit with a bear and her cubs... why?

Just curious if it would work. I've never had Grammodes myself, or a pair of fish. I only had solo fish.

actually i think if you were to try this, it would be better if the grammodes were larger. grammodes are slow growers, where pikes grow pretty quickly. if the pikes were larger i think the grammodes may become a meal. i have never kept either fish, just putting together a few things i've picked up here. a larger tank would greatly increase your chances, but i understand we work with what we have.

Not the best combo i would use a saxatilis pike because of the hole different growth rate thing but most likely once the Grammodes start breeding it will be trouble for the pike so i wouldn't recomend a pike or really any cichlid with a pair of grammodes unless its a convict or a cichlid you don't care a hole lot about

Yeah, I suppose if I went with a pair the other fish would be like FM's or something.

Thanks much for your input all !
