Here are some pictures of the theraps wesseli that I have been growing out for just about a year. These are F1's that I picked up at the auction at Rusty Wessel's house at the ACA convention last summer. These were a tough group to get pictures of, as they are always on the move and a bit skittish when moving around the front of the tank. They are just getting to a size where I need to move them to a larger tank. Currently they are in a 40 breeder with a couple carpintis grow outs.100_0356.JPG100_0355.JPG100_0348.JPG100_0347.JPG100_0346.JPG100_0344.JPGView attachment 932138

Jon, Matt has the ones i used to have. They went to him on a trade. I regret not attempting to photograph them. They are a very quick and shy fish(bad combo for a photographer). I did notice that once i added some strong current to the tank they started to come out more. Do you have a powerhead running in there?

I've also got a group growing out. The guy I got them from got tired of them because of their shyness.

Mine are in a 2'x2'x1' tank with a bunch of grow-out Cryptoheros cutteri "Rio Jutiapa" and some Lago Nicaragua cons. The tank's WAY overstocked but heavily filtered and frequently water-changed. This intentional overstocking seems to have reduced their desire to hide - they're out and about most of the time. I hesitate to post this (as I will go home to find all but one dead, of course) but it seems to have distributed aggression as well. I haven't lost a single one from the group in over a year (they're now 3-5").

The tank's on the bottom rack in my fishroom so probably stays ~74-75F in the summer. I've seen a couple different females turn into the dark breeding colors and tubes but no eggs yet, to my knowledge.

At some point, I'll move them all (including cutteri and cons) to a 4' tank with some PVC condos (rubberbanded-together bundles of PVC pipe) and see if I can get some fry.

It's really hard to see the sparkly green/blue in pictures but they're really pretty fish!

Yes - I got them from Zach :)

I have a sponge and box filter with a bunch of air running through them.

Ironically, Jon gave me some random decorations which is what are in their tank: resin Greek columns, a rubber anemone and a diver, I think ;)

I'm running 2 AC70's and a sponge on the tank. I plan on moving them this weekend into a 5' 120 that has a bunch of flow. Hopefully the bigger tank will get them to put some size on and keep down on the aggression.

I had them in with a group of thorichthys ellioti, and they slowly picked them off one by one.
