Today was cold and rainy, so it seemed like a good time to tell a story. It's a lengthy sort of story containing a long drive, bad food, and some really lousy photography... but it does contain a gem of truth about obsession... and a really happy ending.

Bear with me... and don't post in this thread until you see those immortal words, "the end".

I hope this works...

Once upon a time, an otherwise well behaved man saw this thread: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=195990 posted by Calicichlid-- another reasonably sane man from Cathedral City California. (That's his hand holding the fish btw...)

"Regani? I shall have them," the reasonably well behaved man, said...

and communications ensued.

The second man's computer was infected, so communications took a few weeks (but that is another story)

Saturday morning came and the 5 AM alarm rang... (OK, so it was 6 AM, but I digress)... The car was loaded, and the 3.5 hour drive began.

Rockstars were consumed... and bad double cheese burgers were purchased... ummm... and a rest stop was required to dispose of the Rockstars.

The clouds rolled as we approached San Bernardino

Cathedral City was reached... and our heroes had meant to ask the second man (CaliCichlid) for permission to take a few pictures, but... as usual... two fish freaks got to talkin' and well... nothing good came of that...

And Bakersfield called our heroes home... and the return 3.5 hour trip began (ummm... with a side trip to a LFS in Palm Springs... an unremarkable place to be sure)

And back through the desert we went... until we saw this sign in the distance...

Yes... we HAD to stop again... we wondered what "coy" were.

Now... we didn't stop and actually look at the "coy"... we'd seen too many Slasher flicks over the years that started like this. I mean... the hills DO have eyes, ya know.

But we did take a few pics while we were stopped.
