so my tank always look hazzy. i just did a 100% water change and it still looks cloudy.the weird thing is when you fill it all the way to the brim, it looks clear, but if it is like 3 inches from the top which is where i need to to be so my bichirs can breath it looks cloudy. any advice on this issue?

could be a bacteria bloom... the more water u have technically the more stable it is... so if you have less your levels might be a lil on the wacky side... try holding off on feeding for a fay or two... and it should go away in a few days

we have tried that and did a ph and amonia test and everything is hazzy looking but if you take a gallon of water out of the tank it is clear. it's just weird. and if it is an algea bloom what do i do to get rid of it?

Put a uv sterilizer on it if you don't already have one.

If you already have one, here's a couple of things to consider... is it big enough for your tank? how old is the bulb? is your pump moving the water to quickly for the uv to work properly?

The UV sterilizer is last resort for hazy water. How long are you lights on for? THis is a huge factor. If your lights are on for more than 7 hours you will get a bloom even WITH a sterilizer. Also, the water needs to move SLOWLY thru the sterilizer. Its the ZAP time your looking for. The longer those organic particles are exposed to the light, the more damaged their DNA becomes. Inhibiting their growth and division.

ALso, dont feed so much if you are. Those food cans say 2-3 times aday, but its more like 2 the 3 days a part from each feeding!! Smaller fish can be fed LITTLE Bits every day.
