You guys, I'm SO loving these Crays! This is a picture of the 1st one I got a month ago (a P.clarkii), he's the one that got me interested in crays. Since then I've gotten a white P.clarkii, a P.alleni, a C.quad, 2 C.peknyi and just now ordered a C.destructor from CrazyCrays.com. I can't ever do anything on a modest scale, so it seems. I've got all the different kinds I want now though so this will (probably) be it. We just built a stand to hold up to 3 - 45 g tanks. My Cray Shelf :-) I can't believe how interesting, gorgeous and FUN these guys are-who'd have thought it?? If anyone has a quick picture of their C.destructor I'd love to see it. I can't wait to get mine later this week. I'm bugging the invertebrate forum half to death lately lol

Very cool :D

I'd love to set up a cray tank someday. But I'm pretty sure the only non-native crays you can get in FL are the blue ones. Guess I could always make a trip to GA ;) but I don't have the space / time for another tank in the foreseeable future. I had a few crays (the ones they sell as feeders here) in my 125g about 5 years ago when I was cycling it, they were real fun / entertaining to watch.

Nice. My crays have doubled in size wince I got them. I can't wait until they've really put on some size.

his claws look massive for his body size. Very nice looking cray fish

Thanks everyone! My husband keeps calling them "water bugs". I love watching them, they can do things with their legs that I'd have never imagined lol The one in the picture comes out and takes food right from my fingers, is that common? He's real careful not to pinch me with his claws, he's cool.

Crayfish are a lot more intelligent than we give them credit for. They're not the smartest creatures by far, but they sure learn quick. I have a few that will accept food from me directly and I have a Cherax quad and P. alleni that do "tricks" for food. (Nothing like "sit", "stay", "fetch" or anything but conditioned responses for food).

Looking great though, I love the claws when they start getting older... the size, the bumps, the shape, real fierce looking aren't they? ^_^

Oh Black_Sun! I could just hug you for all your cray info you've given me. It's made a real difference in how much I love these guys. My Oscars have always been my favorites, hands down. And they always will be. But these crays....man. They're as close of a close 2nd as you can get. I just love these guys. Everyone I know thinks I'm nuts but hey-I never denied that :-)

glad ur happy with ur crays, i pretty much gave up fish hobby and got into the crays myself :) i found a website that sells crays for pretty cheap and they have a special right now for the crays: http://livingaquatic.com/, but i am not sure if its legit, i havent purchased there yet but just wanted to share but always be careful when buying online
