I unplugged the filter and powerheads to do a PWC today. Well i decided to cook an omelet after draining the water, and when i came back to start filling it, i found these two arch enemies sleeping on the job!

There was no water current at all in the tank, and the JD and Jag were sitting on the gravel, not moving at all. I sat and watched for a few minutes and took pictures because it was so weird. Then the Green Terror came over and sat in front of them. WTF?

Maybe i have too much water current in the tank with the filters on?

they were prolly just resting a bit lol. fish like current. they have no space compared to the wild as it is so current allows them to actually swim. no current, almost nowhere to swim, so they dont swim. if they tried they'd jus go back n forth back n forth. with current they jus cruise in the current.
 
so its like those conveyor belt things at the airport?

These two usually can't stand being near eachother. The jag had a bloody lip for a bit there too!

Wc's can be a stressful event for fish, (notice the raised dorsal fins). Humans that normaly hate eachother can often work together toward a common goal when the need arises, so obviosly these rival tankmates are doing the same. :thumbsup:

yep, i think so. not sure if they're working towards a common goal, but the lack of current is a dramatic change, so they're wondering what the heck is going on! No time to beat on someone else if there is potential danger to yourself - also better to group up with someone else because if you're by yourself, you're a target.

i bet if you could leave the current off (not recommended :) ) they'd start beating on each other again once they got used to it.

glad to know my jad and jd aren't the only ones that hate each other
 
glad to now my Jag and JD aren't the only ones who hate each other always fighting and uprooting everything in the tank
