Okay so I divided my 120g with what I thought were two male golden platinums on one side, and my female kirrin on the other.

I wedge some slate under the eggcrate hoping they would spawn on it through the eggcrate.

Turns out though that the sibling golden platinums are male and female, and those two spawned.

After theyspawned, they beat the crap out of each other (I knew I shouldn't have gone out to eat :irked: )

so I put the male on the side with the female kirrin for now.

I have a 40g that I added methylene blue to the water, but it looks dark blue, is that normal? I was expecting light blue.

The mom is fanning the eggs, doing well, not eating them.

Should I remove the slate and put them in the 40g with the methylene blue?

Thanks in advance :)

I shot some short vid clips of them spawning, I'm uploading them to youtube right now.

here's the vid:

if you want to keep a majority of the spawn then yea pull them to another tank!

inexperienced females often eat their young when threatened! also a hint of advise do know wear black or dark colors around the fish! they have a natural instinct to flee or hide that is very powerful and hard to counteract!!

if you remove the eggs then you don't have to worry!!

I would move them into a 5-10G. Much easier to feed them. Use 100% of the old tank water, put some gravel from that tank too if possible. And yeah, a sponge filter will be perfect.

Some of the eggs were white this morning, so I freaked and move the slate to the 40g.

That was a mistake.

Water was colder than the 120g, and it was very noticeable, but I was rushing on my way out the door to work.

Came home, a lot more eggs are white, but at least they are in the blue water now.

There are still a lot of opaque eggs.

They should hatch tomorrow right?

If some do hatch, when do I do a water change to get rid of the blue water?

Fertilized eggs are tanish..

You should start seeing eyes in a couple days if they fertilized though with a heavy dose of meth blue it will be hard to see them.. So really the next point you'll probably see is wigglers. Keep a flashlight handy. It helps sometimes to see what exactly the eggs/wigglers are looking like.

You can have alot of white and still have some that fertilize, hatch, make it.
