Thick Slime Coat??

I bought a gar yesterday and today I noticed a thick slime coat on its body.. just the body..
Then when I put in food, the gar bit on the food and shook off most(98%) of the slime..
I've seen slime similar to this, on dead fish when their skin is rotting..
Now my question is what causes this thick slime coat?
I did a water change after putting the gar in yesterday..

To start Gars have a thick slime coat pics would b better most likely its jus the slime coming off a lil bit after netting him at the store.

When I got my 20 Inch gator gar he got the same thing his slim coat was super thick and looked like he was peeling lol after a few day itll all be gone don't worry he's fine catfish get it some time to

It's looking normal now without the thick slime.. Thanks for the input
