thickness of glass needed

tank will be 96x48x 36 to 42" tall

i was planning on setting the glass on a 2x4 at the bottom as well as having a 4x4 bracing at the top

You will need some very substantial support for the window.
This will give you an idea, see # 70. I used 1-1/2" Acrylic for my 4' by 8' windows.

For my 8' X 3' I used 1/2" tempered.

if you can afford it get it a litle thicker than you need.

if i can i would but i was quoted for 3/4"plated non-tempered, just making sure this is fine

I used 5/8" on mine, dont know if its tempered. My 600 is 42" tall.
