How do I get my 8in thin bar to come out of hiding? He hides all day in a clay pot and never comes out. He shares a tank with 2 3in tinfoils and a 10in silver arowana.

i'd say give the fish some time. he might be stressed out cuz of the other fish in the tank (aro??). if you really want him out, try what happens when you remove the pot.

easy take the clay pot out:nilly:

well that kinda sucks to hear that. i just ordered 2 thin bar tiger dats. oh well.

same thing happened with my dat. Keep the pot in, it makes him feel safe. If yours is like mine, he will come out when there is food. It took 3, almost 4 weeks for me to see him looking black and yellow like all of the adult dats. Get some dither fish. I have a school of killies that tell the dat that it is ok to come out. I had a bigger school, but I think they made the dat hungry :headbang2

Yea I got 5 tinfoil barbs and right off the bat he ate 3. He just started showing the really nice yellow and black. I dont want to take the pot out because I dont want his color to go away.

thers's not a whole lot you could do about the dats hidin; all you can do is to be patient. The dats will come out when they feel comfortable. Sometime a takes a few days, weeks, even months but eventually they will. All you could do I wait.
