How come i always see little thinbars for sale but never any big ones? i have never seen one for sale over 6 inches. I would love to get one thats over 10 inches but i have never seen one for sale. Just wondering why no one has one that big. Just like NGT's, i always see medium ones for sale but never large ones.

probably because people that have ones that big want to hold on to them.....(time, effort, money , dedication in getting them that big)......i sure as heck would if I had a real large one!!!!

People believe that they are less hardy then other dats, therefor most die before getting too big sizes.

I like to think it is because they are not as popular as wide bars and indos, so less people have them. Also they only get about 14 inches at max size, and the chance of any fish reaching its max size is unlikely there for most thin bars wont get over a foot.

It is probably a combo of all of the above. I have a 8inch thin bar right now and a LFS here has a 10inch one for sale for $150.

a 10 inch thin bar? thats sick. I would snatch that up if i was closer.

My friend in Florida thats really into dats had some 13 inch thinbars imported from asia and they were awsome to see in person. He also has a 14 inch NGT that he grew himself.

Yea, I wanted to pick it up, but I just took down a bunch of tanks because im moving, if it is still there when I move (doubtful) I'll get it.

If it is tru that they die easier then make sure you have good filtration, do your water changes, and feed them right. That will all help there chances.
