after months of "magic thinbar death" im down to one
he was always the smallest and also the most active.. about a month ago he lost his last remaining friend/brother and is now the only dat left in the tank.. theres a bunch of bichirs and a high-fin in the tank.. the giant gourami started picking on him so he got moved..

anyway... this is one of his new tricks... he also likes to sit on the top of the bichir pile from time to time as well as do power laps back and forth across the back of the tank...

(its still processing so give it a bit if its not up yet)

so far his record is 11.. im not saying thats the most hes done at once its just the most ive seen him do...

haha! that's how mine thinbars were last night. were there any signs before you lost those other dats?

thinbars are known for just up and dying when they are between 3"-6"... or so im told... as to why i have no idea...
-my first one that died (7") died as a result of a beating he took but his death was the first..
-second (6"-7") was very stable from the day i got him.. he was ALWAYS black as night... however he was the only one i had that wast on live and he trained all the others to eat market shrimp so i kept him around.. he started "coughing" and flashing a lot which made me think it was something with his gills.. he died in about a week

-third (5"-6") was a GREAT thinbar.. i got him as a rescue after he was munched on by an arowana.. even while he was being chewed on he had amazing color.. super black bars and nice golden/tan body.. he had been recovered from his wounds for about 4 months.. he started "coughing" about a month after the second dat died.. as soon as i saw him do this he went into a 60gallon hospital tank where i started him on antibiodics.. 86 degree water with a bit of salt.. after 3 days he turned solid black and stayed that way for 3 weeks... he never ate.. then he died...

-the fourth (4"-5") did the same... at this point i was ready to put the two remaining thinbars in the garbage disposal..

-the fifth (3"-4") was another one that always looked great.. he was also pretty active.. he started coughing and turning black and that was enough of that.. since i knew how it would end and didnt feel like dealing with it again (not to mention his meds would have cost me twice his value) i took it upon myself to put him down..

anyway.. thats about all i know about thinbars up and dying for no reason.. its been 2 months since the last one died which leaves me with captin circles.. so.. who knows... he is now charging all over the tank chasing ghost shrimp..
