Hello, I have a few large tanks but for some reason I am intrigued by certain pikes.
I have friends come over and say, "Whats up with all the pikes", yet I have seen to have found a balance of the ones I have at the moment.
I find that with my regular cichlids (HEAVY WEIGHTS) there is allot more fin nipping and aggression. The same holds true with my pikes but only once first introduced and then it stops completely.
I used to have the likes of Lents and Atabapo 1's. A friend said to me that he can see the evil in the Atababo 1's, and he would never look them in the eye. I have heard this from more than one person and I have had them at full grown and all other fish in the tank are unease, waiting to be ripped apart.

Now I realize that not all pikes are the same temperment.
I'm not talking about saxtins or others but still the heavy weights.
Yes the Lents, Atapob's, cintas and others are the top dog.
What I have now are Zebrinas, multispinosa's, tapajos 1,and my recent favorite the cr. jegius.
I have two large tanks and have them in both. At least two per tank.
The cr.jegius(spelling) are nuts but have calmed down in the tank they are in and have not killed anyone including each other but what a show at first, they went nuts on everyone including themselves and now they are part of the group of the likes of large Amarillos, Red devils, Mota's. Jaguar's and more.
They are one of my favorites at the moment.
I have two Tapajos from Oliver Lucanus (6inch) and just got two from Jeff Rapps (8 inch).
We will see tomorrow if they get along, they are in the same tank.

If you want to try pikes and want a middle weight type then I would recommend the ones I mentioned, Cheers

I will post some pic's tomorrow.

What size are your tank? You think it's possible for a zebrina n Atababo to be in the same tank specifically a 300 gallon...

IMO.......No, I had Atabapo 1 with johanna's and the Atabapo went nuts on them, almost killed them...same size too.
Atabaop hate other pikes, I have heard it working with a larger cinta but not zebrina.
Atabapo grow much larger than zebrinas. Why don't you try Tabajos with zebrina...Thats what I have and seem to work great. Tabajos only grow a bit bigger than zebrinas.
I have them in a 750 gallon tank, there are also mutispinosa pikes in with them.
Here are some pic's

Damn 700 gallons I'm 400 short lmao
My tank is pretty empty few loaches n dats.. only been running for a month but everything is doing good

I have a pair of c. Lugubris Jutai in my 1100g. I thought about adding 2 tapajos I and a zebrina that were for sale but chickened out. The female jutai will take over 2/3s of my tank at times.

Do you guys think more pikes would stem aggression? And these are heavyweights- 12-14"

Love your choice pikes. I too am crazy about them. Nice to see that you have multi's. Thanks for sharing.

I think your tank is large enough of you have enough structure to create clear territory breaks but you want to get something that can hold up to the robust stature of your jutai's. Best bet if you are going to add some more Is to get several more and be prepared to remove them until you have two solid bonded pairs in there.
