since i'm about to build an indoor pond for my future monster fish i was thinkin of doing away with my 8 foot long 240g and just setting up my 160g i got in my shed and have it as my cichlid tank....the 240g is just so big its hard to really find a good spot for it...the 160 or 180 whatever it is, is only 6 feet and i'd have more options on placement in the house....whatta ya think.

Sounds like a good plan to me. when i upgrade to a 350+ acrylic my wife is making me downgrade my other tanks. I'm ok with that

I've been downgrading for the past year or so since I just graduated from college and I'm working on finding an apartment. My 150 gallon is sold, and I'm also selling my 75 and one 55. After that, I'll have a 65, 55, and a few smaller tanks. It sucked getting rid of some of my bigger fish, but I don't mind not having to do the massive WCs anymore

yeah...i mean i dont want my house looking like a fish store....well...maybe a little like a fish store..lol....i currently have running a 240g african cichlid tank, 55 gallon grow out, a betta in a bowl, and a 220 gallon galvinized water trough growing out catfish....when i do the indoor pond it'll be just to much IMO....probably gonna build a stand and canopy for the 160g this next week and gonna use the lighting and filtration from the 240g on it...ill take pics of the stand and canopy build. just gonna store the 240g setup till i figure out something else to do with it.

I down sized from 5 tanks to 1. I now have a 50 breeder and I enjoy the hobby more than ever. If I want to see a big tank I go to my LFS. This worked well for me as now I have more time for some of my other hobbies.

i talked to my LFS which i'm friends with the owner and both employees and im probably gonna take my 240g to there show room for them to use as a display tank once i get the 160/180(72x23x25)(cant remember what gallons were) ready for my cichlids. atleast that way it wont be sitting in my shed collecting dust plus ill get some good deals on some goodies.
