As of this morning, everyone looks clear of of ick, obviously going to keep temp up and continue to treat with the medicine for a few more days. Sadly, I ended up losing both my loaches. ): They were just so covered with it, and treating with medicine that was specifically for them and everything. I feel bad having not been able to save them :/ I love loaches and I would love to eventually have more but makes me nervous because they are so sensitive. :/ So we will see.

But everyone else is doing wonderful. My knife is back to his normal color, he became a light gray when he was sick, and now that he's looking good, he's back to his dark gray and chasing all the other fish around and my hand around the tank.

I've learned my lesson, much longer quarantines for new fish.

Good thing most of your fish made it. I almost lost my Oscar to columnaris.

ive had several bouts with ich and it didnt go away permanently until i kept the temp up around 86 for a couple weeks after symptoms went away. Just keep it up and hopefully it doesnt come back. Bummer about your loaches but glad to hear everything else is doing well

I lost a group of clown loaches I used as bottom feeders to ich. Amazingly, the experimental betta I put in there who was totally covered survived and is now healthy. But I lost like 3x 6"ers and 6x 2"ers to the great white scourge.

Sorry about your loss. I am glad you have gotten rid of it though. I just discovered ICH in my 30 gal community tank raised temp to 86 and using aquarium salt...this will work right? oh and 30% water changes daily

Salt heat amd water changes are what i recommend. I woukd only use meds as a last resort of the.fish.continue to get worse while treating with salt and heat.

Keep up the treatment because even though they are doing well..the ick is still there for awhile..and keep up with the water changes.. good luck

Ive heard treatment should go on up to three weeks after symptoms disappear. I cant confirm this myself but definitely keep treatments up

I will definitely continue on. I only did the medicine becuase of how bad it hit all of a sudden. There was nothing and then the next day the loaches were just covered :/ I am only going to treat with medicine today and tomorrow and then just keep the temp high and continue with water changes. My other fish didn't seem to be affected by the ick. My green severum had one spot on it's tail and that was gone with the first day of treating. It just was my more sensitive fish. But of course, my oscar is a lutino with very little orange and so it would be hard if not impossible to see any on him. But he's acting normal, was pouting the other day when i did a water change because I moved the big rocks around and he couldn't move them, and obviously didn't like where they were at. Laying on the bottom and wouldn't take the food and as soon as I moved them back to where they were, he was up and back to normal begging for food. Oscars are brats, but I love them.

But thanks everyone. I've been so nervous about it the last week or so, just hoping they would all make it through.

+3 on continuing to treat for another couple of weeks.

In regards to CLs being more susceptible to Ich, I think it has more to do with their location in the water column than any sensitivity. Ich Spores fall off into your substrate and when they hatch into their free floating phase in search of a host, the loaches are the first fish they usually encounter. That's typically why catfish will be the most infested...really any bottom feeder will typically have the most spots in an ich infested tank.

In any case, keep up the good fight. Good luck!
