hey guys, I've been thinking about getting a clown knife. I have never kept one, but I do have quite a few fish, and tanks. I guess I'm on the fence because I was thinking about an Aro as well. Currently I have a 10g-Texas cichlid, 30g-Jag, Raph cat & GDanios, 55g-1Alb O, GT, SD's, and a 120g-2 O's, pictus & pleco. Eventually I will be getting a 220g, or a 240g for my O's and Jag for life. Could the knife live comfortably as well? I really like the way they look, something different. How is their temperment, Ok with O's? Jag? (I am wondering what he will be like when he matures, he's only 4 inches at the moment.) Any advice is appreciated. And while were at it, pics would be nice!

well clown kinfes get over 3 feet same with arows so i would say a 240 would be pushin it...tho they will max just about 3 feet....so i would reccomend a tank atleast 3 feet wide or even 30"...i would say just wait unitl you got a big tank until you get it

yeah get both of them, its just an excuse to go get a bigger tank when they get to big for the one their in... thats why i got all the big fish.

  LOL, that is definitely the behavior that I am trying to avoid. I read somewhere that clown knife fish don't get much over two feet in aquariums, this must be a lie? I don't want to have to upgrade from a 240 if I can avoid it.:grinno: Anyway, No PICS yet? Cmon...

I have a clown and an aro and a jag all together! it works out very well actually, but I would say a 240 would be absolute minimum. eventually I may have to go bigger. (they are currently in a 265)

It will be ok for a very long time though IMO. Here is a pic of mine for reference.

Holy @#$% rally, that tank is sweet. I might have to stay away from clowns and Aros in general then? Well, we'll see what happens, maybe I can convince the lady friend to let me go bigger.:headbang2 Otherwise, IYO rally, would I be able to fit 3 O's a Jag, Tex, and GT in a 240 for life? (assuming that they all get along.) If not, the Tex and Gt could stay in the 120, (again assuming that they get along). How big of a tank would i need to house an aro, and some O's?
