I was tinking of building a 1000 gal 8x4x4 pond in a few months made 2 ft below and 2ft above ground. The above ground part would be made of interlocked 4x4s. I was just wondering about stocking and filtration and all other aspects. Advice would be apreciated. I live in so cal so it stays from 60 to 100 degrees year around. It will look simular to this.

Stocking will be determined if you are going to heat or not.

Filtration will then hinge on stock list. When it comes time for filtration, craigslist is a great place. This forum, both indoor and outdoor, have many great DIY ideas if you a semi-handy.

i will probobly do 8x6x4 wich would be 1500 gallons how would i heat that i probobly dont have to in the sumer because its usually at least 80 to 90 degrees stocking if i heat? and options if i dont?

DIY Solar.

I have a buddy that heats his pool in the summer by running a black garden hose along the asphalt drive. A small pump continually cirulates water during the day. I would think in sun diego you cold do something like that.

ok thanks ill look into that stocking? and what do i do about heating at night time

Cover it to keep heat in and critters out.
