I have 2 small BN plecos now but am thinking about adding something a bit more rare and cool looking.

Can I keep some of the bigger species with my BN in a 110gal 6'X18" tank with some smaller geo's and cory cats??

sorry don't know the L numbers for most of these.
I have been looking at green phantoms, gold nuggets, snowballs, leopard frog plecos, I like royals too.

:)

There all pretty expensive.
But now I have found a 4 inch L14 goldie pleco from a local guy, he has 2 @ $30 a peice.

any advice

thanks

you get the L-14 that is a good deal
i have 4 of thim
gets big and sels for more
and thay are on the ban list

i just picked up a royal pleco today. i dont know how much they sell them for in your area but theyre about 20 bucks over here. not too shabby for a nice pleco that gets large. also good choice on gold nuggets and green phantoms. my next pleco will be a green phantom....if i could find one.

anyone?

I would say $30 is a good deal. It should be OK with the BN given there is enough hiding spots for them all. I believe the get something like 11-13".

royals and goldies i can rule out for you now.. Goldies (big ones) are like 400$ and royals are agressive. I'd go with some of the smaller plecos for a 110 gallon tank. Most of the small ones get alone in larger numbers. Lepord frogs they are price (L134) I see them at about 75$. L333 is a great pleco gets about 5 inches relatively peaceful , but have a bad side..... If your not 8inches plus you don't wanta get in the way of a L333. Most fish like corys learn that quickly. They are mostly agressive towards eachother (male vs male) Although i have found that if you buy them small they get along just fine. They are fine for anything that won't eat them.

L66 basically the exact same descriptions of care as L333 fairly common both are about 30-40$. cheap for the fancy plecos

You could easily get 6 of either of these these for your 110 gallon.

buying these guys as fry is a bad idea. I did get mine as fry , but they are picky and require a lot of care. They also must be seperated from all fish until they are about 1.5 inches. They will never get anything... They just are very big. Pleco boy does sell fry on aquabid , but i'd say it really isn't worth the 20$ savings. I had 2 die out the ones i got from him at no fault to him i assure you. They were perfect when i got them.

L333 also will hide as babies for about 2-3 months when put in their new tank. They are very shy. After about 2-3 months they will start coming out more and being as friendly as hyps are.. Which is not very much.

Gold nuggets also a bad idea. Mine was very territorial and injuried several of my fish. They are solitary fish. If i could use 3 words to describe them it would be fragile, hermits, A-holes. The third one due to a spin accident with my last and final gold nugget. Stabbed the hell out of me while i was cleaning his cave. Blood all in the water. Had to drain the tank and break it down completely to get the blood out. hense my anger to this L number
They also tend to die for no reason without warning and take other with them. That gold nugget i died randomly and polluted the water to the point that my ghost knife (which i loved) died to. I wasn't able to locate the Gold nugget till days later ...
sorry for spelling and grammar kind of in a rush.

but most of all please do your research extensively on the pleco you get their are a lot of them and they all have their pros and cons. I suggest planet catfish to start.

so goldies are a bad idea because they get too big or is it the cost?
because I can get two 4 inchers for $60.

Or I could get the L333 and L270's for $20 a peice but there only an inch.

Where are the L14's located? Individual breeder that you know or a lfs? I'm interested in one or, maybe a royal, or maybe both. Thanks.
