I am thinking about getting a pleco as I am getting algae due to direct sunlight (Currently I can't avoid it).

1st: I had a bristlenose pleco (normal color) in 40B before I got my flowerhorn, pleco was around 4 inches and flowerhorn was 3-4 inches, flowerhorn grew to be 5-6 inches next to him, I had to move to Seattle from Raleigh and gave pleco away.

2nd: Next one I got was tiny like 3 inches that survived the flowerhorn but I accidentally killed him by removing driftwood and not realizing he was inside.

3rd: I got a 2 inch albino, which looked pretty nice but was just 2 inches and my flowerhorn has grown above 6 inches. It was killed within an hour and I couldn't save him.

I really like albino/gold/orange color and would like to get one with blue eyes, does this color causes more aggressive behavior towards them?
I am planning at least 4 inch fish. I really don't like bristles on them so looking for a female. Are females smaller than males?

I had a bad experience with common pleco (he attacked my red dragon flowerhorn a decade ago), so don't want any common pleco.

I don't think there is a huge size difference in male and female all mine have been roughly the same sizeish. Albinos in general pull more attention then darker colors. I don't usually see much that really see bristle nose as a threat or compitition other then other catfish maybe.

Thanks, I think my fish saw the tiny one as a pray that's why killed him.

In past my paradise gourami would attack any brightly colored fish, so I wasn't sure how my fish would react to pleco.

My females are slightly smaller but not that much.
You could try Nettie snails.

Just got an albino bn. Tiny. Put it in the wifes tank with a couple of goldfish and corys. He's tiny but cool looking and only cost a buck with reward points.

Certainly they do look pretty good. I looked at super red recently, they look fabulous too. I guess red, blue eyes and albino are best looking varient.
