thinking about getting a silver arowana, any advice well taken

I'm thinking of getting a silver arowana
Any advice and info would be great

My dream tank at the moment is a tank with:
1 arowana
a few Lima Shovelnose
and some medium aggresive SA/CA cichlids like Salvinis, FM, Sajica, GT, JD.... anything else that could work?

Is this a possibility or am I going way over my head?

Not at all...just make sure you have a large enough tank...something along the lines of a 330 or so. With a good strong cover.

Here's what I'd look for:
-the most dominant fish in the tank, the fattest one (if it's an aro tank)
-one with eyes looking upward, avoiding drop eyes the best you can
-one with good swimming posture

you may try those of what u already said...like the green terror,jack dempsey,parrot fish,stuff like that.I keep mines with a managuense and a motaguense in a 300
