I was thinking about getting a stingray and starting it out in a 55 Gal tank and then hopeing to get some info on possibly building my own pond, but not really sure on what materials to use to hold that much water. does anyone have any comments or advice in getting me started, it would be appreciated.

Thanks

There are several threads on new ray fish keepers, and great books.....
check them out first before buying one....

As far as your 55gal....It would be ok for 1-3 months....You need a large foot print of 48x24min and bigger for one ray.....otherwise it would be like sticking it into a bowl and it cant move.....bigger is better...

As far as ponds...indoor or outdoor...there is a great section of other members ponds, and how they did it step by step to help you out.....

What ray where you thinking about?

do some research on them, but they are great fish to have. you would need a much larger tank than 55gal.

pond can be built with liners, or cement as big as u want.. it's all in what you want to spend
i know a company that will sell you a liner for a 12ft..by 20ft.. and 3 ft deep for about 265.00 dollars

Best thing to do is a lot of reasearch and decide what type you want to keep. What I would suggest is go for a cheaper ray at first to get experience with them and them go for something more expensive. As far as a pond goes just look at what some other people have done and ask questions.
