Hey i was thinking about doing a few live plants and i was wondering what things i would need to keep them alive and healthy, so i guess ill do this in my 10 gal just to see how it goes thanks=)
I believe you'd need about 2 or 3 watts of light per gallon of tank, as a rule of thumb. And they have to be in the right spectrum, typically bulbs made specifically for aquatic plants.
I have a 10 gal. planted tank with 36W of lighting. DIY CO2 sytem and I dose it with ferts on a regular basis. My plants grow like crazy and I love it. I also keep some Otto's in there to clean up a little. One thing I learned quick was to keep the surface of the water still. I had a HOB filter running and the water agitation was breaking up my CO2 bubbles. Once I took it out, my CO2 levels went back up.
