thinking about moving to singapore

i am thinking about moving to singapore. how expensive is it to live over there? what's rent like for a small flat? is it possible to buy a small house or too expensive?
i have lived in US for a long time, but now i am in Ukraine. But i want clean and crime free country.
any advice?
 
heard its wonderful and clean but heard owning a car is very expensive. my brother in law has been all over asia in his work and always says he would love to live in singapore
 
thanks. that's what i heard. i will try to fly over for a month to check it out myself. i am so sick of US, and Ukraine does not seem to be any better either.

i been there 3 times in the past 6 years... i love to move there... housing and car are 2 thing come into mind that is expensive...
 
Singapore is a FINE city. You have to keep on your toes. They whip out citation books faster than you can blink. There are actually fines for 'not flushing' a public toilet, 'chewing gum' in public, 'littering' -even if the trash is not yours and you just happen to be standing by trash on the sidewalk when a law officer comes by, 'eating' a candy bar on public transportation, picking any flower in any park or street, and a slew of others.
 
i am a pharmacist. for the last couple of years i have been temping in US. this way i can come and go as i please without real job. but looks like this economic down turn is putting an end to it.
 
i am well aware of all the fines and caning they deliver over there. but to be honest, that's what attracted me to it. I am really sick of all the dirt and crime in US and Ukraine
 
^ I guess if you can take dealing with the stringent laws over in Singapore, its a pretty great place to live... although as mentioned before, basically living any where like Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan is going to cost you a lot of money when it comes to housing / car...
