Alright it is getting about that time for me to start looking at a bigger tank for my Oscars. I am thinking going with Dimensions of 4ftX4ftX3ft = about 270g. What size glass(thickness) should i use, and is that a good size even. I was thinking about getting them a few tankmates besides the Silvertips and the pleco. I am thinking Arowana but am lost on everything else. But i really need info on if that tank size is good, thickness of glass, and what type of filtration i would need. Thanks alot for all your input, and i should have pics up shortly of all the tanks.

I have heard and preferr a longer tank that a deeper tank the longer is better in the sence that the fish can swim in longer distance's which is better for the fish. I have a 125 gal fish tank and had oscars in it they loved to swim all the way to one end and back. also you might try putting some big power heads to create some good current they seemed to really like that also

If you had an arowana in mind like you said, then you should go with a long tank, that is if you have the space of course. And i think longer tanks look better to.

My 7ftx2ftx2ft glass is 3/4.

Yes longer is better, with width min 2'. Otherwise with the 4x4 the aro will constantly swim in circles...
