just got a shoal of exodons (2-3 inch) today and am considering adding 6 2-3 inch rpbs in with them. would that work? or should i get a black rhombeus (6 inch)?

Probably not a good idea to keep any of those fish togather in the same tank. They all would pretty much need their own tank or they'll kill each other.

the exodons will probably kill off those baby rbps.
exodons max out at around 4" most likely I think and rbps grows up to 8-12", so it's like putting sub-adult together with baby, the exodons will kill off htose baby rbps.

It would get to live all by itself. What size is your tank and what intrests you in a fish? Seems like your just buying whatevers cheap and looks good at the moment.

I had 6 red belly p's they dont do much but sit there they do not interact much nor do they do much of any thing stick with just the exodons.

and not for nothing but, I have done alot of tank swaps lately and have had to put a jag in with them, as well as a buttekoferi with them.. If I hadnt took the buttekoferi out I wouldhave had dead P's.. The Jag was just as bad if not worse do his non stop terrorizing of any thing in the water with him. Though usually stressed when moving a fish to a new aqarium, breathing heavy etc, within 13 seconds or so the P's wanted out of the tank and were breaking power heads and such trying to get out of the tank with the buttekoferi.
