I just set up my 300 gallon with some pbass and a few baby rays and was just wondering what kind of plants to do. I like tall grasses and things that grow on driftwood the tank is 8 feet long 30 inches tall and 24 inches deep with about 3600 gph flow with a sand bottom and two 4 foot coralife t5 ho with 2 10000k and two actinic in each. I need some help. Thanks

I have many different species of plants in all of my tanks and I dont do any co2 or ferts. I would do what Pyramid_Party says as well as most hydrophila species. they are the basics and if you can accomplish with them I would start with some more exotic ones.

Yeah your lighting is enough, probably too much. You should run only one fixture and use atleast one bulb that is 6500K. Do not use the actinic, the 10000 K is fine. And the plants I suggested will do fine without CO2 addition. I would suggest occasional fertilizing though because you have a sand substrate. You could add some root tabs instead. Only plants out of my suggestions that would really benefit from the fertilizers more than the others would be the swords.

2 54W HO T5 bulbs would not be enough to grow vals in a 30" deep tank. Also, the spread on the tank would only allow for plants to grow in a very small area, as the dual fixture would only cover ~1/4 of the tank with lighting.
