i have a 5-6 inche jardini aro, and have found a 5 inch temensis. i would like to have them together in my larger tank. I have read that the temensis are semi-aggr. so it seemed like this could be a good combo.

any obvious objections or thoughts???

The jardini has a high chance of excessively harassing/killing the pbass, as they mature.

I wouldnt put them together in anything short of a 8'x8' pond, as mature adults. They're just too big, too active, and too aggressive.

i would actually think the opposite... I bought a 3-4 inch jardini who unfortunately jumped to his death about a week ago. He grew from 3" to 6" in about 5 months give or take a month or so.. I bought a temensis at around 7" and in less time he has hit the 12" mark.

I would advise against this unless like p45 said you have a huge place to put them. During the first year I would be scared the jard would kill the pbass.. but I would think if you started them both off at 6" the p bass would outgrow the jardini very quickly and eat him for a snack...

it seems like barely anything can live with a jardini. all the rules on what can live with what is killing me. i think i might just sell the jardini and put my red devil in the 125 alone, and let him have an oversized tank for himself, and stop spending all my money every other week. since im sure everyone would agree that the jardini wont be able to stay in the 125g forever.

In my experience, the best thing to put with a jardini is tartar sauce. They are wicked brutal fish and very few people have tanks large enough to house them properly alone, never mind in a "community" type environment.

Good idea on trading him in. You'll always wonder what if, but you can always try again ina few years with a much larger tank. I recently saw one in a 5' x 4' x 2' tank, and he OWNED it. Very nice display though, fully planted, well layed-out.

Good luck whatever you choose,
/Kris

Drop the idea. Generally Jardinis get realli nasty after the 1 ft mark. However Temensis is nasty, and territorial right from young; it's no angel either. Not worthwhile to take the risk.

does anyone have adult pics of a jardini, i would like to see what they look like. right now he is about 5 inches and not all that impressive, needs to pack on some lbs.

srry to bump into ur thread, but was wonderin would a 1ft jardini be alright in a comm tank where all the other fish are bout 1.5ft-2ft? Cause i am guessin my other fish( silver, P-bass, Clown Knives, Tiger fish) will be to big to be bashed...

dude, the onli true way is ti try. if you dun try you never know. my 15 inch asian aro & 7 inch temensis get along fine.
