I have built plywood tanks before. The problem with this one would be access to install the glass or acrylic from the inside. I was thinking about building an inside frame setting the glass from the outside then putting on an outside frame. Any one done this or have an opinion about feasibility. My main concern would be the glass not having enough room to move or flex when sandwiched in the frame and under pressure.

step 1. Build tank
step 2. Cut hole in wall
step 3. Fill hole with said tank
step 4. Put trim around hole to cover gaps.
step 5. Cancel cable, cause you won't look at the TV anymore.

People do it all the time, just frame the tank like a picture.

I have done that before in another house with an all glass 150g.

The one I am thinking of for this house is on an outside wall and would be built in the room. Think built in entertainment center with 200+g tanks on each side of TV and a 100+g tank connecting them over the top of TV. Kind of risky having that much water surrounding my electronics. I have done crazier things and i think it would look very cool.

lol. I was also thinking with a tank like this I would not need cable anymore.

Sure , Why not. I am currently designing a new stand for my 240 and am going to install all my A/V equipment into it . I have GFI outlets supplying power and have installed an ArcFault circuit breaker in the distribution panel for added protection.

This shouldn't be an issue, as most of the flexing is done at the center of the pane of glass/acrylic, rather than around the edges, which is where the framing should be.

I want pics of the tv surrounded by 500g+ of water on three sides :).

Just in the planning stage but once I start plenty of pictures will follow.

man if you end up doing sommthing like that, that will be the cooles thing ever IMO lol

for the stand, youll need massive support just so it can handle the weight really good and so u wont have to worry about anything damaging your electronics

Thanks. I think it will be cool. Also I have to rebuild that end of the room because I tore out a closet to make it a living room. So as long as I have to do something might as well be a tank. Right?

I will probably design the stand along the same lines as the one I had for a 600g plywood tank from years ago. It has become the basic design I use for all my stands. As soon as the snow melts I will get under that part of the house and do some load evaluation. Until then I will be working up a measured plan. Have to start with a plan on paper so that I have something to deviate from, as I go.;)

I am also thinking of putting the filtration in the basement. With the possibility of making it a central system for all my tanks. Anyone done this?
