Thinking of adding a Dragon Goby to my existing brackish tank setup. Here are the specs...

125 gallons
1.018 salinity

3 mono's sebae
2 mono argentus
2 orange chromides
1 green scat
1 figure 8 puffer
1 columbian shark

My question is, what are the chances of him living/co-exhisting with my current inhabitants? I think the only one im really worried about is the figure-8 puffer... but hes a pretty feisty guy. Had him since the start of this tank and hes lived fine with everyone in there, and all those fish besides the scat (the slowest growing fish in the world) are full grown.

so, will it work? I recently lost my archer fish in this setup from old age... so it'd be nice to add a new inhabitant...... im also thinking of donating my mono argentus to a local aquarium to make more room.

The figure eight will probably pick on the goby. I have 2 Gsp's,3 mono sebaes,2 columbian cats, 5 scats, 1 super large Dragon gobie.

^ I figured as much, the figure 8 picking on the Goby that is.... thats no big deal. He's picked on my Columbian shark forever, but nothing besides some fin nipping... over time the Columbian shark got faster/wiser to the figure 8's attempts. Im sure the dragon goby will adapt the same way.

so besides that, my water parameters are fine for housing one?

I had 2 puffers, they killed my first 2 dragons. So the puffers went into their own tank and I got 3 more dragons. They are now HUGE (like 18/20 inches long). They are very docile and shy. Mine hide when they can. They don't eat other fish. They are in a tank with 4 dwarf puffers, 2 rainbow gouramis, 2 dragon eels, 2 spotted leafs and some mollies.

^ hmmmmmm thats sort of a relief to hear, a relief to hear he wont eat my puffer or other fish, but not so good to hear HE may get killed. I guess its worth a risk once, and hope for the best.

No one has really answered my question tho about salinity.... whats their preferred level? Is 1.018 ok? I plan to raise to 1.020 soon.....

and as for the Figure8... can he tolerate that salinity? Ive always read they need lower levels but he seems to be doing great in 1.018....

Figure 8's are also somewhat less aggressive than GSP's also.

You'd wanna make sure the goby has somewhere he can get away from the Fig8.
Definitely a toss up though, and you'd wanna get a larger goby.

1.010 to full marine. Mine is in full marine.
