Just been into my LFS and someone has brought in a GT that is about 6 inches, has badly split fins and tail, barely any body colour but still has a nice orange edge to his split dorsal fin and green lines on his face. Apparently the guy that bought it back didn't know it would be aggressive when he purchased it and he left it in a bucket in the shop. He is currently looking sad in a 2x2x1ft tank. :(

I am picking up a 110Gal (72x18x20) tomorrow that my Jag (11 inch but not a killer) is going into so I could try him in there or with my Oscars if that doesn't work out.

What are the chances of nursing the GT back to health and looking great? Has anyone else got any good tales of GT rescues?

Should I just grown my own from a juvie to make sure I have a great looking GT?

Take a chance with him. You will have to keep a close eye where ever you put him. I understand that your fish do not appear aggressive but they may feel that this fish is easily defeatable and try to take him out. But I would take the chance.

Thanks for the reply!

I think I might go for it when I get the new tank set up! :headbang2

I picked it up today, it stinks and it needs a lot of work but it didn't cost me anything so it's all good!

I live in a flat and getting it up the stairs with a 90 degree turn in it was hard work!!
