i have been thinking of a spiny and smooth softshell turtle tank but was wondering if the two types would get along and wat should i feed them also would they get along with a large peacock bass?

First of all, what size tank are you gonna keep them in? They can get massive.

Wiggles is right.softshell turtles are very agressive. Its hard to even keep two of them in one tank. The only halfway moderate of them is the papua flying softshell. But those are super expensive and get massive.

The most common softshels in the USA are the two Apalone species. Both get very big. I would stick to a male, because those stay smaller.

Also you must be very careful. They can and will bite you when you handle them. Their neck is very long and flexible and they can give you very bad wounds. They can bite off your fingers with ease.

He means a Fly river turtle- they are pricey right now but they do well with fish and only need about 300gallons of water. FL softshells will reach an average of 18" plus their neck which will extend that nearly that same distance. They really need a pond because of how active they are and how large they get. If you do get one the only way to handle an adult is to scoop it up out of the water using a laundry hamper- this allows the water to drain and keeps your hands and fingers safe (well, safeish).
