Pike cichlids have the look I'm going for in my oddball tank, I'm thinking about adding one or two. Tell me if you think they would get along ok with the following fish.

BTW, it would be whichever pike Petsmart carries, I believe I read they are known as belly crawlers.

Anyway, the tankmates would be a 7" Red Wolf Fish, 2x 5-6" Senegals and 2x 3" Spotted Raphaels.

The tank is a 50g breeder (48x18x13) with an AC110 and some other filter similar to an Emporer 400 without the bio wheel. They would eventually be moved to my 120g (48x24x24) when I acquire a new home for my Dovii.

I'm primarily concerned about the Red Wolf Fish as he likes to chase fish around the tank, he is aggressive but not to the point of killing another fish. At the same time though I would be heart broken if another fish killed him :(

Oh, I might eventually add a couple more bichirs as well..

usually they are BC's, but sometimes vens or others. I'm not sure the BC will get large enough. i doubt they will pose aggression problems for your fish

I read a post on here saying their belly crawler got to 9", the wolf will only get to around 8".. so the problem would be with the bichirs.

If the BC got to 9" I don't forsee a problem, what size are they typically?

ive never heard of a bc reaching nine inches, they only get 4-6". however they are commonly mislabeled as C. sedentaria which could be what you saw at 9". hope this helps

Dunno, just saw a member on here saying he had a belly crawler at 9".. if they only get 4-6" then yes they will be too small.

a 9" bc? I highly doubt it.

I have a Pike Chiclid (belly crawler) and i use to have him in with a senegal and other fish aswell but i know we had to split them up cause the pike always went at him.
The pike is now in with a Frontosa and they get along great.
They could possibly get along is a 120 but as for the 50 right now i could see some fights.

P.S. Hes a big boy 6 in long but hes so fat!

Are you sure? Cr. sedentaria is by no means a common species.

thats the only possibility i could think of because belly crawlers are commonly mislabeled as such

ALSO A MESSAGE TO MUDFROG: i just went to petsmart today to get 2 bellycrawlers and they said all petsmarts no longer carry them because they were way too aggressive and they were also an opportunity buy :( im really sad and im sorry to break the bad news to ya man
