Hey all, so after a recent cannibalism act, my Del is fully recoverd, and im looking to add a few active fish to my tank..

I have one 4'-5' inch Del in a 72g tank. He hides all day, and only comes out for a little while at night.

I have tried a senegal with him, but the senegal started to eat most of his fins, so the sen went bye-bye...

I have tried a couple raphaels with him, but despite the numerous spikes, he attacked them non stop..

I was thinking about adding a couple ropefish in there, but im not sure...

Was also contemplating possibly some balas sharks or a couple non-agressive cichlids. I am not sure which cichlids are aggressive, as ihave only ever kept Jags.

Any help? What combos have you guys had luck with other than bichirs with bichirs?

try some tinfoil barbs, very active not to aggresive but will spar with their own kind and they look cool

Def well fed, hell eat utill his stomach is expanded out, looks fat.. right now i only feed him shrimp pellets, but once i find a container with a lip on it, i'll start feeding him blood worms (I tried before, but they spread over the entire tank, a lot of cleaning up afterwards)

eating isnt the problem, just not sure why he is so aggressive

interesting... try a severum or a knife fish and some large tetras.danios as dithers

at petsmart they have small cones with slots in them for feeding blood worms, the fish come up and pull the bloodworms out while keeping the bloodworms confined. it just suction cups to the side of ur tank

Try ctenopma/bushfish and synodontis catfish.
My dels are in with several raphaels and they spend most of the day cozied up to each other. They are also with buffalohead cichlids, nanochromis cichlids, ropefish, glass catfish, and a couple of synodontis. No issues with anything yet other than each other. They are chewing on each other pretty good during their courtship.

Wow man, you have some strange bichir! JK:) To be honest I've never seen a juvinile bichir fighting each other especially in a large tank (you have the Delhezi a 72 gal tank right?). I have a albino bichir and delhezi bichir of both 4 inches in a 30 gal tank and they are buddies. No nibbling nor fighting. In my opinion i would put a bichir with a bichir. It seems it doesn't work with U. Put plenty of hiding spaces and don't feed ur bichir or any of ur bichir tankmates any feeders. Eating feeder fish can trigger a natural hunting instinct to become aggresive. I had a 3 inch senegulas that attacked a 7 inch wolf fish!!!!!!:headbang2:headbang2 You put ur delhezi in a 72 gal tank with no tank mates right?? I can manage to figure why a bichir would attack each other in such a huge tank! Good luck.;)

Yea, lol, not sure why either, my only guess is that maybe the guys at the lfs fed them feeders? Not sure, i can call them and ask them lol.. He is pretty strange though, he likes to hide ina plant i have sucktioned to the back, the other day only his head was poking out, looked like a leaf.. i can get a pic up tonight, def funny..

Yea, right now he's all alone in a 72g. Begining of next month i get paid again, so im trying to think of what to add in.
