I'd like to get some crazy mechanical filtration for my 150 gallon tall (48 x 24 x 31). I was considering the FX5, but started looking into the Ocean Clear setups.
Would (1) ocean clear filter do the trick, or should I run 2 inline? Also if I went this route which ones shoudl I go with, what pump, and how much would this setup cost?

I can get an Fx5 for $200 shipped, but would like to make sure it's my best option for mechanical filtration first.

Also I'd like this to be shown as little as possible. Meaning just having a few tubes running along the back of the tank would be fine, i just dont want to have HOB power filters all over the place.

Thanks for any suggestions,
-Ryan

I have 2 OC canisters with a Reeflo Dart running on a 180g. From a purely setup situation, I'd gladly swap it all for an FX5. I have so many pipes running, it's nuts. Of course, cleaning them is much easier. I think mine are the 325 models. 1 has filter floss & scrubbies. The other has the stock filter.

if your looking for pure mech. filtration, go with the fx5. aside from the 9 standard chunks of foam, you could always load the 3 baskets with foams as well i would imagine.

altho, the fx5 is great as is IMO with the standard 9 blocks, and the rest packed with bio filtration
