Hawaii
Well, with the knowledge of how black's are getting rarer and rarer. Also with my love of these graceful giants, I have been interested into purchasing a black. I found one out here in hawaii for $180 US dollars....which is 10 inches and looks very healthy. Our only LFS in hawaii is actually only going to get a couple more shipments of these before his supplier stops distributing them altogether. I am currently constructing a 150 gallon tank on my days off and think this might be a good home for him. It is actually a new concept my buddy found on the internet, but I'll make a post about the whole thing later. How hardy do these guy eat at that size? How fast is he gunna grow? How big do blacks get? What are they compatable with?

blacks (aros at least) are the least agressive aro's. At smaller size they are more timid but after 30-35cm they will become superb fish. Mine is just over 10" and eats everything i throw in, except pellets. Not hard to feed at all! Mine is growing pretty fast, i'd say around 1,5" a month and they can get huge!!!
compatible with anything except baby feeders. just make sure its tankmates wont hurt the aro as, like i said, they are quite timid when small.

What is the name of the shop selling blacks for $150.00?

 $150 ???? You mean $180??? Anyhow, it's really hard to get anything here in hawaii. You gotta alway's expect a price jump. So sad but true.:(

go get it. They are beautifull. as said, much more shy and reclusive than silvers or the australians...jewels.

i have a 10 inch black aro i bought for $200. its an awesome fish to own. good luck

Thankx, I'm am very much considering it. It will definately motivate me to get to building the tank.:D
