i was bored and just reading through some stickies about the rays just because i always wanted one. i was told by my lfs that even the teacups get 3' across but i read where the ideal tank for a teacup would be minimum 75 or larger. so that got me thinking that i could possibly house one. i gotta do more resarch on them first. but i have a 120, 125 and couple of 55g that i could switch my stock around to make it work if the teacup could be housed in either the 120 or 125 (120=60"x18", 125= 72"x18"). thanks for your help. like i said i dont know a ton about them but i know the basics and i will know more before i buy one. just let me know your opinions.

teacups are usually retics and they are pretty hard to keep.

i would look into motoros. even though they get big, it will take them a few years and u will have plenty of time to upgrade or find the ray a new home.

If you have to buy a teacup ,,, be sure to see it feeding like it's hungry . If it's feeding then all you have to worry about is keeping it alive

As vamptrev says ,, motoro would be easier to keep

I learnt this the hard way ,

how big does the motoros get? my lfs has had a teacup for quite some time so theyre keeping it alive. i have to rearrange my stock and remove my gravel and leave the bottom bare, or more than likely use sand (cant stand the look of a bare bottom tank, no offense to anyone). i started lowering my ph today. mine is about 7.4 and the lfs is at 7. im gonna find out what water temp as mine is about 78. i have 2 peaceful florida gars i would like to keep w the stingraw along with a a peacock eel (if possible, although i only saw him once since i bought him so its not a big deal if he wont work) and a lima shovelnose cat. saw some pics of the lima with stingrays so im not sure if it will work or not. but let me know if im at least headed in the right direction. thanks guys and im hopin it all works out!

I just acquired 4 "Teacup" rays(not sure what breed) but I've found no problems keeping them alive thus far anyways....they all eat, are quite active and quite personable. I would suggest getting more than 1 ray if you do, as my ex room mate had 1 and it never did anything....just stayed in 1 spot the whole time.....never moving.
