I have a 125 with an aquaclear HOB. I want to add more filtration because I have juvies but they will grow... 2 Oscars, 1 Texas, 1 acara, 3 giant danios, and four Africans. May or may not get more CA/SAs. So, I was thinking I could add a filter, but is this a decent filter for a second filter? Anyone have luck with eBay filters? It's dirt cheap at 64 including shipping... http://vi.raptor.ebaydesc.com/ws/eB...0637&category=46310&pm=1&ds=0&t=1458933500928

I have 2 sunsun 304b that I got from Amazon for under $75 ea. With free shipping. It's been a little over a year now and both are still running strong. Some people don't like it and say it's cheap but I have no problems with it. Works just as good as my Rena xp3 but way cheaper in price. Would I buy it again? Does it do the job?Definitely!!

I bought a sun sun three years ago and it's still going strong! As a result of that one, I know have 4 of them total and have never had the first problem with them. Absolutely love them and would buy more if I needed another!

A canister filter is pretty basic. You even make a DIY canister filter. I heard nothing but good things about sun sun.

I believe aquatop is the same thing? My LFS sells them but looks identical to a sun sun. My LFS is very expensive though and charges 400 for a FX6. They do have 50% sales 2-3 times a year and you have to get in quick to buy these FX6's lol

I have one of these, in the UK they are sold by a company u called APS but clearly the same manufacturer in china or wherever.

They work ok but flow rate is much lower than given even at 0 head, and I find it very difficult to prime after removing for cleaning. Also the plastic side clips are prone to cracking so beware.

I don't know if you have the below there but they are dirt cheap and the highest form of bio filtration you can get, they also take up hardly any space and can be plugged into a return on an existing filter

I did a bit of searching as well. seems as though they are getting good reviews across the board.

To answer your question yes more filtration is better but for growth filtration won't do anything. You need to do daily water changes on the juvenile tank to see growth. Filtration will do wonders but won't do anything for growth. It will help with debris and what not and beneficial bacteria but they're many inhibiting growth factors in the water you need to change it often.

Also the bigger the tank the better. I had grow outs in 40 gallon tanks but took a chance and put the 2-3" in my 200 gallon tank and those grew about 5X faster!
