thinking of buying this fish. any advise?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Although I'm not sure of it's exact type the price does seem kind of high given what I have seen in other posts of what similar looking aros were going for......so I guess it comes down to, get the fish if you like it enough and you can afford it.
If you can bargain and get the price down some then even better.

Seems that the prices for the various strains have gone down over the years.Unfortunately for me it does not matter how much the prices have dropped as they are banned here.

I am thinking of setting up a new large tank and getting this fish.

have anyone ever had this? is it easy to keep? this one is expensive, the price tag from a private keeper is 2500 USD.

SR Asian arowana. Usually reaches 20-24”. Needs a 6 x 2.5 x 2 imo, others may differ according to their country’s standards. Grows up to 14-16” first year and slows down afterwards. It’s relatively easy to keep if you keep water parameters right and feed it properly. I’m not sure if it’s considered worth in your country, it depends on the arowana’s size, body shape and colouration.

Scales look alright, mouth no PLJ, pectoral fins average size, shape nice but no spoon head, color already spread but not intense red (orange coloration at best). 2500 USD is fair price for arowana that size. In Indonesia, you can get arowana at that size for about 1700 USD and more depending on quality. Some photos of RDC super red at 1700 USD price range:
