I am thinking about a camel boxfish(Tetrosomus gibbosus). From what i have read they supposed to only get 4-6". It would be going in a 30 gallon with a snowflake eel, until i eventually uptank. Anyone have any experience or advice about this?

they gotta be alone. if they get pissed off they release a toxin which could wipe out the aquarium.

i read that a lot but ive saw a dead one in a lfs with a cleaner shrimp eating on it with a bunch of little fish in the tiny display tank

i had a boxfish and was scared about that same thing. i talked to the owner of my lfs and he said he'd had them die on him before and they never poisened any of his tanks. so idk, it still worried me though.

Can release toxins if stressed- not just if they die. How aggressive is the eel? They are not recommend with aggressive or even semi aggressive fish.

Generally boxfish don't do so well in aquarium's and usually need at least a 90 gallon or more to keep there stress low. I don't think the eel would cause a problem but the tank is too small. Hope this helps you out and best of luck in your decision.
