Datnoid Island
I have been for a while now and now I've spotted one that I might pull the trigger on but first,a few questions...
I have been considering one to provide some color to my datnoid tank, how are they in a community setting?

They are very territorial and aggressive. It really boils down to the fish's personality and the community/tank size he has. I have seen plenty of community tanks on some of the group's, however I don't recommend it and in all likeliness you will probably end up with only a flowerhorn. But I have seen them with bichir, arowana, multiple flowerhorn, multiple parrots and vieja.

Thanks for the reply. Here is the little guy that caught my eye recently.

he looks good, if you don't mind me asking what's the price tag on him? usually LFS charge absurd prices and claim triple a grade vip. Just be wary so that you don't get ripped off. Can you guesstimate his size? in my personal opinion raising them alone will give you the best results on their growth in size, pearl and kok. If he is 3-4 inches you could go with a 40 gallon breeder for a bit until you need to upgrade him to a 75 gallon. Putting him in a tank that size will also make him much more interactive with you. Looks like a SRD to me. SRD/CC/ZZ/KML are easier to groom and grow quicker. king kamfa/kamfa in general take more time to mature and grow their kok etc. edit* also if the gravel of the tank is red it will bring out the color of that fh much more, also proper high quality pellets. I personally look at crosshead pearls first because that is usually the first thing I notice as they pace back and forth and stare at me and while I'm feeding them. Next I look at pearling, fin structure and fan tail. Sometimes I look for base color too it really depends but in the end go after what catches your eye the most and what you will be happiest with.

Sure,it was sixty dollars, labeled as an AA grade and it looked to be about four inches or better.I have seen some pretty high prices for other flowers this size that didn't look as good.Thank you for you advice.

60 really isn't bad at all. If you love him i would def buy him, if you're looking for a masterpiece that's a different story but you'll spend 5x that price. Get a 40 gallon breeder and you'll have a great time raising this guy, they are so interactive and playful. I use a sponge with a airstone and another sponge with a powerhead, very cheap if you don't want to spend too much on a canister.

Yeah,I think I'd be quite satified with it as I am not looking to compete for medals or ribbons and such lol.

Not all about winning comps ;) have a big show tank in the bar cabinet, need a show fish hehe. get good food for him, atm i'm using okiko platinum and cz aqua products. I recommend joining the facebook flowerhorn groups to get information, like UFA USA flowerhorn and facebook flowerhorn hobbyist. CZ help kok and CZ red blaze. I'm going to buy some scarlet pellets soon and see what kind of results I get.
