Until I can get a bigger tank for the predator community I want I thought I would get a wolf now to keep. Was thinking if getting a 55 gallon and putting it on my desk. Was gonna use a fluval 404 canister filter which should be plenty. Any good places recommended for mala? I don't trust my LFS to get the right species. I'm in the Midwest if that matters. Any suggestions on the setup is welcome to.

Well they are the most common wolf to be imported. So I suggest to give ur lfs a chance plus always a great idea to support the lfs's. Anyway....if u question it then post a pic and someone will get a confirmed Id for you.
If u get the other wolves then you'd be lucky as they are hard to get.
55g is good in the beginning. Can get up to 20 inches so keep in mind. Minimal setup is needed. Mainly driftwood and leaves and ur set.
50% wc a week or biweekly and that depends on feeding and water numbers.
I know of online vendors if u want to consider that. Good luck on ur hunt for wolves!

My LFS leaves alot to be desired. They tend to have at least 3-6 tanks that have ich. I bought the last 2 pbass they had there and it gave all of mine ich. Ive had issues with feeders to. They dont stock Wolf Fish there though i have seen them there once. It was just labled as Wolf fish. They are really hesitant to order fish for people to. I know id get a better and much healthier fish if i got it elsewhere.
