I'm thinking about getting one, I have a 125 gallon tank and I'm looking to get a bigger tank in August. I have 12 bichirs in there. 2 of which are albinos which don't get too large their both about 8inches now would I have to worry about the aro eating them when it's bigger?

125 will be way to small, I have mine (50+cm) with poly's, no problems, my two albino's are around 10cm and he pays them no attention. Aro's easily grow 3cm per month, how big is the aro you're getting? How big will your next tank be? I assume it's a silver?

I'm working on getting a 180 gallon tank now just for it to grow out. It would be 3 1/2 maybe 4 inches. And it's a black I hear they get a few inches bigger

How long does it take to get that big?
Depends on tank size, water quality and how many times you feed it.

I'd say 4-5 years it should almost max out.

Always get the tank before the fish. Get the 180 and then maybe a 500 gallon tank for long term

That's was the plan I just needed to know what or would need

go for it...fish doesnt grow that big over night, you have plenty of time to upgrade. The best part of this hobby is to see your fish grow bigger. You will be ok with 125g for a few months
