Hey guys, recently I've seen lots of threads in the polypteruous section and it's really made me want to get a few. I've kept the super common polys (senegal and cb endii) but the rarer uj polys have really caught my eye. The tank they'ed go in (if I get some) would be a standard 120 with a male potamotrydon reticulata (5" disc), vieja guttalatus (5"), common pleco (10"), spiny eel (10"), and giant gourami (going to be rehomed soon, 7"). It has a sand substrate and is filtered by a rena XP canister rated 175 gallons. I've already taped up the open areas with egg crate light defusers. Is this a good tank to start a bichir collection? And where is a good place to buy some? I've heard great reviews for jurrasic aquatics but since they are in az and Im in md shipping will probably be outrageous.
Thanks in advance!

Heard that JA is always a great place to do business. I bought mine from toyin at rehoboth aquatics. I've personally haven't had luck with polys and, retic rays. Shipping is gonna be expensive anytime you buy online $50 seems to be the average. Jurassic aquatics only does airport to airport if I remember correctly. That's why I went with toyin just because he could ship to the house.

Thanks

If you want to keep bichirs the pleco will have to go. As far as shipping even if it's costly the second you open that box and see your fish it's such a rush. IMO the cost will never out way me buying from JA or polys in general. If I like it enough I'll find a way to buy it

Thanks guys. I dont mind selling the pleco and I'll see if I can move the ray.

We ship overnight size dependent,,,if it's available in your area and the weather permits. Nobody want a Polysickle

Figure out what you want, and place a big order. The cost to ship doesn't increase unless its a huge fish, or you order more than 10. The shipping doesnt make sense when you place a bunch of orders. Airport to airport is also at least twice as fast, 8-10 hour transit vs 22 hours transit. When I picked up my teug, palmas palmas, and buettikoferi from JA in the summer their color didnt even fade...
