I am not new to aquarium keeping, but am very new, as in never... tried to keep any live plants. I recently got a 240G that is 8' long and 2'x2' wide/tall. I would like to keep this setup fairly simple as in no CO2. The above link is the lighting I am thinking about getting. I intend to run either a double or quad setup. Which means I will have either 4 bulbs total or 8 bulbs toltal since each fixture holds two. These bulbs are 40W each and are rated at 6500K for sunshine.

Next, for filtering I have 2 overflows that are 3/4", 1 FX5, and one 600gph circulation pump. So I have about 2000GPH of flow going on inside the tank. I plan to have the retuns underwater for everything so I have less surface aggitation.

Will this work????? I am clueless when it comes to plants, but for such a large tank I thought it may be cool to try.

just stick to low light plants like anubias and java ferns. you'll be happy.
Great advise, low light plants are perfect for beginners. Even since I stopped my planted tank, I still can't get rid of Hygrophila polysperma, I've just left it, gives the oscars something to play with;)

what lighting arangement should I use for the suggested plant types. Would the 4 bulbs work, or should I go with the 8?
