Okay I've been wanting to do salt for a long time and finally decided to give it a try. Should I go with a 75 gallon for my first or could I go bigger as a beginner with saltwater?

Depends what your looking to sink into it. Bigger you go the higher the initial costs. Smaller is cheaper. Bigger the system is the more stable but if you test your water then smaller is easily achievable as well. 75 gallon is a good size reef, I set up a 20 gallon all in one for around $1000. You can pick up a used full setup for a good price if you look around.

Wanting a community. Definitely a couple of clown fish with an anemone to live in. I would like a tang. What else could go with those. I definitely want a reef set up.

Don't know much about saltwater but always open to advice and suggestions plus I will do alot of research. Don't want an insane costly tank but money isn't a big problem. Wouldn't mind doing like a 120 or something. Is it better to have longer or taller for a reef set up with community fish?

You want width as well as length. 75 is a good footprint. The taller you go in height then the more expensive/powerful your reef lighting will need to be in order to reach depths. Lots of reefers use 40 breeder tanks with small sumps. They are not deep but have a good width for piling live rock and still able to keep a open area in the front for fish to swim.

It’s a fair deal. Never hurts to offer lower if they say no or it’s firm give them what they ask. If they say yes clearly they were expecting around that much. You do not require an anemone for a clownfish to live in. They will host pretty much any coral. Mine are currently trying to host something, I think they are going for the gsp. They have the sting marks on them
