im thinking of getting the following http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/800L-H-UV-STE...ryZ46310QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
i figure i get the best of both worlds, a decent powerhead/internal filter, to polish my water, with built in uv to help keep my new boy healthy and help me to keep algae down.

has anyone had any experience with this type of internal filter?
or do you think a 1600l/h powerhead with filter attatchment will be enough and the uv is not needed.
thanks in advance.

UV will only kill free floating algae, and will have no effect on algae on surfaces in the aquarium.

great for keeping your water super clear, but like wow stated, you will still need to clean surfaces. I haven't had experience with that particular UV sterilizer, but i run the cheap $40 ones from petsmart in all my tanks and it's one of the best investments i've ever made.

I have an internal filter in my 100 gallon. Works great and so easy to clean. I only spent 100 bucks and I think its better then a canister filter.

Do you have a link? Do they come with a pump? What wattage?

i think the question has been misinterpretted. thanks for the replies but i am asking if internal filters with built in uv are any good. killing 2 birds with 1 stone so to speak.
thanks for the replies but i know a uv only kills floating algae, hence i said help with algae control, and i know about the polishing aspects of an internal.
thanks for taking the time to answer but im after experiences with the 2 combined like the one in the link i gave.
