hi im from the UK and am think of makeing my self a plywood tank now after seeing all of yours but want to no what is the best way of sealing it up any and all help welcome
yeah, since it quiet cheaper than full glass tank..
why not..
i also have planning on build DIY plywood tank
what the material needed on building this tank??
anyone
It's really not cheaper unless you're talking about a very large tank. Tanks under 140 gallons are mass produced very inexpensively. Making a DIY plywood tank is more about the pride of doing it moreso than saving money.
read the 1700 gallon shark tank in the articles section it goes into good detail how to fiberglass the right way just use epoxy resin instead of polyester resin then you dont have to use epoxy paint to seal it because poly is not 100% waterproof
For my 200gal plywood tank, I built the box, then used epoxy resin from MAS Epoxies to seal it. I use strips of fiberglass cloth on the corners/seams, then just painted it on over the whole interior. I did about 3-4 coats with the half gallon kit. The nice thing was that it is easily tinted with acrylic paint that you can get at any craft store or even walmart for cheap.
