Thinking of Starting a SW Tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks man. I just saw that it was a small tank like what I wanted to start w/ and already has nice lighting. I'm still going to be doing some research before I get everything else. I was just wondering if the lighting would be good for anything and what? I'm going to go check that book out now...

for most soft corals and some large polyp corals it would be fine.

sps means small polyped corals. also you may want to think about getting a protein skimmer, but dont make any hasty purchases as its important to get a good one. but you will learn more about it as you research.

if you want cool coral's like LPS, SPS, clam's all the good stuff you'll want at least 4-5 watt's of light per gallon for octocorals, mushrooms, zoanthids, some paly's no lighting requirements at all.

So this is just 3w per gallon pretty much. I don't know if I'm going to be doing all that stuff w/ my first SW tank anyways. So it'd be pretty much no corals in this tank?
not no corals just low light ones, like zoas, mushrooms, kenya tree, etc,
from my expierences you could get away with some easy lps(like frogspawn) placed high in the tank.

i would replace the bulbs that come with the tank, if there not recently purchased
